Just listened to Chris's interview with Cal Newport and really impressed by your lifestyle and ideas - it has given me much to think about. Good luck with the Substack! I think a lot of people are interested in finding deeper ways of living.
I love this idea. No idea how to impliment it in our life, even though I'm a full-time writer with a lot of freedom. Sometimes I wish I could write only on a computer without the internet, then plug in a USB drive and bring what I've written to another computer to upload it. (I upload 4 chapters a week to Patreon.) But that seems a little extravagant.
Still, I'm going to think about ways I can minimise internet better than I have.

I love that you folks had the courage to cancel the Internet. Thank you for the inspiration! I have wanted to do this in my home for years, but my wife won't let me. No matter what tactics I've tried, the Internet always ends up consuming too much of my time. I want to cancel it and just use the library when I need it once or twice a week. I love to read books, and imagine how much time I'd have to read then! I found you via the Cal Newport podcast. I look forward to your book!
You're welcome, Shawn. Even if the entire house isn't Internet free, it might be worthwhile to consider allocating one space in your home where you and family can be independent from it.
